For your information we have detailed a few basic pool water terms.
| Algae :- | Are microscopic plants which can make your pool look like a pond if left unchecked. |
| Calcium Hardness :- | Is a measure of the amount of dissolved calcium in the pool water. |
| Chlorine Demand :- | Is the amount of Chlorine needed to destroy pollutants in the water such as algae and bacteria. |
| Cyanuric Acid :- | Is the stabilising agent within chlorine granules and tablets and is released into the water on dissolving. A low concentration is required, however, if too much cyanuric acid is present then it reduces the efficiency of the chlorine. |
| Parts per million :- | ppm is the same as milligrams per litre. |
| pH :- | Is the measure of of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. |
| Total Chlorine :- | Is the FREE Chlorine + COMBINED Chlorine. |
| TDS :- | Total Dissolved Solids are mostly dissolved chlorides and sulphates which accumulate over time due to evaporation of the pool water. |
Chlorine granules and tablets are not the only products available to sanitise your pool water. There are numerous products available on the market that allow you to maintain far lower concentrations of Chlorine in your swimming pool or spa. These include Ozone. Ionic purification, Salt systems, Active mineral ceramics, plus more. Maintaining water clarity at lower Chlorine concentration is proving more and more popular, especially for people with young children or those with sensitive skin.
